Spark Training Just another WordPress weblog 2009-03-06T14:41:16Z http://www.sparktraining.co.uk/feed/atom/ WordPress topdog http:// <![CDATA[Welcome]]> http://www.sparktraining.co.uk/blog/welcome/ 2009-03-06T14:41:16Z 2009-03-06T14:41:16Z Spring is in the air and Spark Training is gearing up for a busy year. We have had a marvellous team working on our new look website – Michael O’ Neill from Apostrophe Art and Chris Jewell from Jewell Design. We are proud of it and hope that it gives a better idea of what we can do. We have expanded our offering to the Middle East and are working on recession busting training methods to enable our clients to get more training for their money. We have just finished constructing a three part course aimed at helping companies survive and grow in a recession, which is attracting a lot of attention.
I took part in a scheme last week which was set up by West Sussex County Council to help school leavers get prepared for job interviews. My role was to perform mock interviews for real jobs with pupils who had expressed an interest in that particular position. I was impressed with the standard of their preparation and rather enjoyed the experience, which we are looking to repeat with other organisations. My top tip for interviews is to write down the 5 things you are best at and have some evidence to back up each item e.g. instead of saying “I am organised” you should say “I am so organised that I have re-structured our filing system so that everything is colour coded and filed chronologically as well as alphabetically.” It brings the answer to life and allows the interviewer to imagine what it would be like if you worked for them. The next thing to do is to make sure that all 5 of those things you are great at, come up in interview, whether you are asked them or not! Matthew Jennings
